Description
Reddish-violet uniform sandstone with fine to very fine grain.
It is a rock with a very low degree of porosity, the interstices between the granules are not completely occupied by siliceous concrete.
It is formed predominantly by granules of quartz, feldspars, mica and fragments of magmatic and metamorphic rock. It has no carbonatic components.
According to the petrographical study and the Q-F-(R+C) Folk (1974) diagram, Rosso etrusco can be classified as subarkose, being a rock that is particularly rich in quartz.
